Restoration of the Clocheton with gold leaf
Friday February 25, 2022 saw the installation of the new pinnacle of the chapel of the Château de Chevigny-en-Valière gilded with gold leaf.
The cross is now securely moored and protected from bad weather.
This identical creation will have required the intervention of a dozen craftsmen divided into several trades: carpenters, joiners, roofers, zinc workers, cabin painters, leaf gilders and crane operators.
After the intervention of the team of carpenters who reconstructed the wooden frame and cladding identically and according to the rules of the art, it was the turn of the roofers to create the zinc dome.
Once this step was completed, the “traveler” bell tower headed to the body painting workshop where a coat of yellow paint specially designed to be able to subsequently receive the gold leaves was applied…
Seeing this pinnacle come back to life thanks to the intervention of expert hands was a priority for me...
